Bangkok Nightlife revisited January 2017
Bangkok is still and always has had a unique, varied and ecletic nightlife. Westerners 'discovered' Thailand back in the 1980's as a tourist destination and its popularity grew. Now Asian countries like China are discovereing Bangkok and Thailand for the first time, this new discovery will no doubt propel a new wave of tourists and visitors to the city of Angels!
So what places are currently still good in the city that loves to be bad!
For Clubbing the current most popular clubs are still Insanity on Sukhumivt soi 12 and Levels on Sukhumvit Soi 11. This year Insanity will move to a new location on Soi 11 at a grand new venue and this promises to be an exciting move for the club.
Top pre club bars are Oskars on Soi 11 and used to be Cheap Charlies also on soi 11, although sadly that has now moved.
Maggie Choo and the Lebua Sky bar and still popular bars for tourists if you like something a bit classy.
Of the 3 nightlife areas Patpong 2 is popular with local and expats and its more low key than Soi Cowboy and Nana plaza. This is also a place where you can find some more exotic entertainment. There is BarBar fetish club at the Silom end of Patpong 2 and next to that the Strip Bar, which is the only bar in Bangkok to feature a snake show on Friday nights with an Albino Python (you can see the pictures on Stickman's weekly column). At the Suriwong end of Patpong 2 is the Pink Panther which has been going for 40 years.
There are always only a few gogo bars which are popular and its our job on the Hangover Tour to know which ones these are. We are around most days and so we know which are the best places to take our customers, which are lively and have atmosphere and above all which are safe. The scene does change month to month.
The Gentleman’s Clubs or G clubs as they are known offer an upmarket experience and although expensive, some of the better ones offer a fantastic night out. At the top of the list has always been the Pimp club which has a lot of pretty girls but it currently become too expensive for most customers. Expect to spend up to 5,000 Baht per person just for a couple of drinks. There are other options we now use on the tour
We have done several tours for large groups and have the guides and vehicles to cater for up to 70 people on an amazing nightlife tour of Bangkok
Finally this year 2017 we will start a new cheaper pub crawl tour on patpong. Called Bangkok Pong Star! It will feature free shots and fun at some of the best places on Patpong.
